At least 6 million very sick Iranians are severely affected by the sanctions imposed upon Iran by the West.
Fatemeh Hachemi, head of the ‘Severely Sick‘ service in Iran, states in the government paper that Iran Daily that the sanctions placed on Iran aren’t just affecting the nation economically but that seriously ill patients are suffering the grunt of the restrictions.
The sanctions limit the import of pharmaceutical products and medical equipment and increases the cost of the few items that arrive in Iran, making them for the most part non-affordable.
According to Hachemi there are about 6 million Iranian patients who are negatively affected by these sanctions; especially patients suffering from cancer, kidney problems and MD. This is the first time a representative of Iran admits to the severity of the impact the sanctions have on the health and the general public of Iran.
Until last summer the country held steadfast that the sanctions imposed by the West had minimal effect on the nation. The sanctions were imposed on Iran because of its nuclear program the country actively operates.
