A Japanese power company plans to finish building Japan’s first nuclear power station to run exclusively on recycled fuel, a mixture of plutonium extracted from spent fuel and uranium, which is called Ohma nuclear plant. [Link]
However, On 10/13/2012, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology and Tokai university found an active sea-bottom fault at 40~50km south-west to Ohma nuclear plant. This active fault was not known before.
So far, they confirmed it’s at least 14km long but it could be extended. The power company, J-Power doesn’t take the risk into consideration to build the nuclear plant.
