U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Saturday that the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi should resign rather than throw threats to attack civilians in Europe.
Clinton called for Gaddafi to deliver democracy and not threats. She also promised that the Alliance will complete its mission to protect Libyan people from his regime.
“Instead of issuing direct threats Gaddafi should put his own people’s welfare and interests above all things… He should resign from the government and assist a democratic transition, “- said U.S. Secretary of State.
“NATO-led mission is on track. The pressure on Gaddafi is growing and rebels have been gaining more power (because of France supplying weapons to rebels). We need to see this through “- she said at a press conference in Spain.
Once again we see the hypocrisy of US govt. officials. Hillary Clinton states that Gaddafi threatened to attack civilians in Europe, but this is what NATO have been doing in Libya – killing Libyan civilians (including Gaddafi’s son and grandchildren) in order to protect them. Yes, that’s what they do, I couldn’t make this up.
As of July 1, 2011, Military casualties have not been officially released by the Libyan armed forces.
In summary, the Ministry of Health compilation documents that during the first 100 days of NATO targeting of civilians, 6121 were killed or injured. The statistical breakdown is as follows: 3093 Men were injured and 668 were killed; Women killed number 260 and 1318 injured; Children killed number 141 and 641 injured. Of those seriously injured 655 are still under medical care in hospitals while 4,397 have been released to their families for outpatient care. (Read more)
